Laura Bannister, DPT, OMT

Laura Bannister is a modern dancer who has applied her love and unique understanding of movement to her practice as a physical therapist. She danced with several modern dance companies in the Midwest before obtaining her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Washington. Laura is experienced in treating musculoskeletal injuries with a particular interest in movement-based artists including dancers and students of both yoga and Pilates. She has volunteered and treated dancers from several local dance companies including Pacific Northwest Ballet.

In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, gardening, and supporting the local art and music scene.

She lives in Seattle with her husband Thomas.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Dance from the University of Iowa (1999)
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Washington (2005)
  • Doctorate of Manual Therapy candidate from the Ola Grimsby Institute (2008). She is currently training to be a Pilates Instructor with a focus in rehabilitation.
